| Welcome to Kingfisher FM. Your station, your community and your music |

Kingfisher FM are a locally run, not for profit community radio station
who aim to provide a diverse and accessible local community station
for Redditch and it's surround areas.
We will be flying across
the airwaves of Redditch from 7am on Monday 15th March
2010. In the mean time we are broadcasting online.
If you would like to get involved, are not for profit organisation
or a band or musical artist based in and around Redditch then why
not get in contact as we want you to be involved in your local community
station as Redditch wants to hear you! So spead the word and tune
in to Kingfisher FM; The radio Redditch wants to hear.
Why isn't Kingfisher FM on 87.7fm all year round?
Anyone who wants to set up a radio station (commercial or
community based) must prove to the UK regulators, Ofcom,
that the area of broadcast can support its own full-time
radio station in all aspects of the station from finances
to local support of residents. One way of doing this is
by carrying out a number of 'short trial broadcasts' (usually
lasting for 28 days at a time) to test the water. These
short broadcasts are known as Restricted Service Licences
(RSLs).
To help us make your community radio station permanent we need proof from the local community that it is something that the community wants. Please send us your letters of support today, as Redditch has been without this for way too long already and we are the people to make it happen.
So in both our short and long term goals, we aim to offer an informative, entertaining station for Redditch, involving Redditch, with a mix of local and national news and information plus great music from the last five decades right up to today. It is your help that makes Kingfisher FM the radio Redditch wants to have as an essential part at broadening the community of Redditch. |
